Our September 20-24 retreat was another huge success. Renewal Coalition hosted 4 wounded Marines, their wives and 6 children. Visiting us were 2 Marine families from Camp Lejeune Wounded Warrior Battalion and 2 from Camp Pendleton Battalion. The support we received from our Host Committee and volunteers was overwhelming…..especially, our babysitters! Our army of babysitters made sure all the parents could have some adult time and enjoy all the adult activities. Also, date night was a huge success with our couples. One couple told us that due to the frequent deployments and injuries, this was their first date night in 15 years. Special thanks goes out to Café Chardonnay, Evo, Jetty’s and Coolinary Café for hosting our couples. The Lund family, with their cooking team, provided a fabulous welcome dinner. The LCPL Justin J. Wilson – Marine Corps League provided one of the best Sunday afternoon cookouts ever and the Vietnam Vets cooked on Saturday. Al DeMott and his Once A Month Charities provided most of the food for the entire retreat. A successful Retreat requires an army of people to make it work.
