In March of 2018 we had the pleasure of hosting 13 caregivers of wounded veterans from Florida, Alaska, Kentucky and Tennessee. These ladies needed some respite care of their own and our Renewal Coalition family gave them just that. We had a fabulous Saturday touring the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum followed by a wonderful High Tea. On Sunday, the ladies had a private Restorative Yoga class overlooking the beautiful Loxahatchee River thanks to Beth with Connected Warriors. Then Dede hosted our caregivers on a yacht ride up the intercoastal for some much needed “vitamin sea.” We then had a “sip and paint” Sunday afternoon where the ladies enjoyed rock painting and a private wine tasting thanks to Andrea and Mike with Southern Wine. On Monday these ladies wanted to enjoy their last day in Jupiter with a trip to the Loggerhead Turtle Museum, some souvenir shopping and a relaxing afternoon walk on the Beach. We then took them to our very own Utiki Restaurant for dinner. These ladies had a well deserved restful weekend. Each caregiver came to us with stories of selflessness and bravery as they have dedicated their entire lives to caring for their injured service member. These ladies ask for nothing in return and we were honored to have the opportunity to “spoil” them for the weekend. To see these 13 caregivers come together to form a new “sisterhood” over the weekend is why we continue to push to expand our program. We could not have pulled this weekend off without the help of all of our volunteers, meal hosts, activity hosts and contributors- we are forever thankful for your support.
